Documenting a national convening post–Roe
2022
I documented the 2022 Women’s Convention in Houston, a multi-day gathering of activists, organizers, and cultural leaders convened in the immediate aftermath of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Organized by groups including Women’s March, Black Feminist Futures, and Planned Parenthood, the event brought together thousands of attendees to focus on gender justice, racial equity, and coordinated political action. Held at the same site as the historic 1977 National Women’s Conference, the convening carried both urgency and historical weight.
Working across photography and video, I captured the energy of the space as both a moment of reflection and mobilization—documenting speakers, attendees, and unscripted interactions that reflected how movements are built in real time. The resulting visuals were used across digital and promotional platforms to extend the reach of the convening and support ongoing organizing efforts beyond the event itself.
